The Zoo
Last week we went to the Toronto Zoo. It was rainy when we arrived but it stopped soon after and only spit here and there for the rest of the day. I think it turned out to be a good thing because not as many people were there so by the end of the day we felt like we had the whole zoo to ourselves! It was really neat to see all of the animals that I have been learning about in books. There was a Kids Zoo within the zoo that was really awesome. It had lots of things at my height and things I could climb in and on. I just loved running around all day and would not let Mom and Dad put me back in the stroller! It was a really fun day. Apparently we are going to a similar place called African Lion Safari later in the summer. I cannot wait.
As always, I love birds and this peacock would not let me get anywhere near him!
Elephants, the subject of one of my favourite books - But No Elephants! I made my very accurate Elephant noise for the video camera for Dad.
Apes. They were a little scary.
Some animals in the zoo live underwater. These Seals were underwater and you could see him swimming by each window and I liked running back and forth trying to catch him. He was so fast.
This was my favourite part of the whole zoo and Mom rolls her eyes when she thinks about it! They were clear vinyl door hangers that kept any animals out of the Kids Zoo. I was running back and forth through them and it was the funniest thing ever.

I can’t believe you have the book “but no elephants” too! Was that yours laura? I still have the whole set with a bunch of other good ones. Claire will just destroy them now but I’ll read them to her soon!

I also intend to watch this one, like you, from the cmofort of my couch, and free from the library.
I really enjoyed the story despite some of the more undesirable parts. It is a perfect story for movie form but I never have high hopes for movie adaptations of books. We’ll see what it’s like. One flaw for me already; Reese Witherspoon doesn’t fit the picture of Marlena I have in my mind’s eye at all! Otherwise the trailer looks really great.
