Family photo, teeth and swimming
We got our family photo back! The photographer sent many to choose from but this one is the best one because I am grabbing my foot and looking cute.
I now have two bottom teeth. It is really hard to get a picture of them because my silly tongue is always in the way but in swimming lessons I make a lot of open mouthed faces so Dad managed to get a shot of them. When they were coming in, Mom was pumping bottles for me because I was adjusting to these weird things in my mouth and I was biting her. Ouch! I have figured it out now and have stopped so she is no longer banning me.
Mom, Dad and I have been going to swimming lessons all summer. They sure are fun! I still get a little caught off guard when they dunk my head but I recover quickly and I really like the swimming and splashing part! I splash way more in the bath tub now that I realize how much fun it can be.

What a fabulous family picture!!! Hawksley, you are so lucky to have such good looking parents.
What a little fish you are in the water. By next summer, you and Simon will be swimming off the boat like old pros.
love, Gramma xoxoxo

Dear Hawksley - I LOVE your family photo. You’ve got some pretty good family genes happening there, as well as some pretty good family jeans.
Love your new new teeth (although I can’t believe you’re already old enough for first teeth), and your swimming and splashing photos - especially the one where you’re splashing your daddy.
The Wood side of the family LOVES to swim. My dad Cliff was a great swimmer. He used to do this beautiful slow, steady crawl. He and I used to swim together a lot because I loved to swim as much as he did.
Ralph, Ross and I grew up spending hours in the water at the cottage. Each summer Cliff would round up a crew of young people and we would do an annual swim across Joe’s Bay at Paudash Lake. Someone would spot us in the boat.
Anything to do with the water and I still swoon — in the water, on the water, or viewing it from afar. I don’t have as many opportunities to swim anymore, but I still love to get in the water whenever I can. Because I started so young (like you) and I loved it so much, and because I associate it with wonderful times with my dad and my family, I have an emotional/spiritual connection to the water.
(Music is another continuing theme on both sides of our families, and one which has continued on through the generations….but that’s for another day and another entry.)
Hey, I also loved the pics from the previous entry of you and your cousin Simon. You two are SO cute, interacting with eachother. Your mom, uncle Christopher and my 2 “kids”, Jennifer and Kerry, used to spend many hours together especially when we would all visit Granna and Cliff at the cottage on Paudash. We really cherished the family connections that were established from the beginning of their lives. Now those babies, just like you and Simon, are moms and dads themselves, and great ones at that. I must admit, I have a hard time not feeling nostalgic when I see our babies with their babies.
Love, Great Aunt Holly
