Spring of Change
For a while now I have been on and off with my naptime. Sometimes, I am just not tired! Mommy and I started a new thing called ‘Quiet time’ where we lay together on the couch and watch a movie. I think it is a trick because sometimes I end up falling asleep!
This past weekend we went to the park. There was still quite a bit of snow on the ground but the swings still worked!
Funny thing about Spring coming is that today, it was nice and warm outside and Daddy and I cooked hot dogs on the fire in the backyard! I helped make the fire by picking out the pieces of wood that would go in next and crumpled up newspaper. I even held the hot dog cooking stick and started cooking a hot dog too. It took too long so I let Daddy finish cooking.

I am 3 and I am a Jedi
I turned three in February. My birthday party was at Busy Bees Playground. We had lots of fun in the bouncy castle! My friends and family were there and so was my amazing garbage dump cake. It was so great because after I blew out the candles, we got to pick garbage off of it and eat it!
We managed to get a nice family picture at my birthday party.
Just around my birthday, I started really becoming interested in space ships, helicopters and Star Wars. I got some really cool Star Wars transformer ships for my birthday.
Daddy and I (and Mommy too now!) spend a lot of time building ships with Daddy’s construx. Here is a giant ship that Daddy built for me one day.
Here is one Mommy built for me that can drive on the moon.
I have started building ships on my own! Here is one I built all by myself.
This is a picture I took of some of the Star Wars characters I have so far. I have not even seen the movie, but I love the characters! I read the Star Wars book we got out of the library before I go to sleep at night and I can tell you who Luke’s father is, which guys are good guys and which ship everyone flies.
This picture has nothing to do with Star Wars but I like it. This is me finger painting.

Christmas 2009
Christmas was a lot of fun this year. We got to see all of our family AND Santa Claus at his house again with Simon and Isla. There are so many parties and celebrations, it is a very exciting time for a toddler like me.
It all started with my very first Christmas concert. Our class performed the penguin dance. I was really anxious at first but once the music started I got into it and did my dance like a real star!
Next, it was a visit with Santa Claus in the North pole! I sat on his lap this year because he isn’t as scary as he was last year.
On my last day of school before Christmas, we had an open house and Mommy & Daddy came to my classroom to have a snack and look at all of the work I do! Here is a picture of me pouring Mommy a glass of juice.
This is one of my teachers Mrs. Reeves.
When I visited Santa at the mall, he gave me a tiny candy cane. I was really hoping that he would give me a bigger candy cane in my stocking. Guess what? HE DID!
We saw all of our family this Christmas which was great! Here is a pic of all of the cousins. Believe it or not, this was the best one we could get. I was tired, ok?!
Papa Randy came to visit us for a few days. Can you believe that he made me, with his power tools, a real work bench?! He gave me a bunch of really awesome tools to go with it too!
The rest of my Christmas vacation was spent playing with Mommy & Daddy. I went toboganning for the first time! It was a lot of fun but it was a very cold day so we didn’t stay for very long. There has not been enough snow since.

First School Pic
Mommy just couldn’t wait to get the real pictures so she wanted to post this proof of my first school picture!
The first time they came to my school, I was not happy about it and would not go anywhere near the camera. Turns out later that day, I threw up so I just was not feeling myself.
On retake day, they let Mommy come into the gym with me and I did a great job, don’t you think?!

A Video for Mommy
This weekend Mommy went on a Scrapbooking retreat. Daddy and I had lots of fun! I got a nice new haircut and then we went and fed some birds! They landed right on our hands, it was really neat. We made a video to email to Mommy to tell her what we were up to.

I can do so many things all by myself.
I have mentioned before that I was a Big Boy. Being a Big Boy means doing so many different things all by myself. I get my own milk cup out of the fridge at meal time, I use my stool step all of the time to get things off of the counter or help myself to a snack and apparently I have to start going to the toilet instead of going in my diaper soon too.
Today I got an orange off the counter and the citrus peeler and tried to peel an orange all by myself.
The other night for dinner I helped Daddy make pizza. It wasn’t all by myself but it is still something I couldn’t do before I was a Big Boy!
I still have naps, and I do have them all by myself in my Big Boy bed but sometimes I have a short nap, and then lie down with Mommy in her bed. Really, I do it for her benefit.
The other day we went to the fire station and the fireman let me climb up into the trucks! I can drive a fire truck all by myself! Well, pretend anyway.
Being a big boy means I can climb, run and jump a lot better now too.

First week of school
This past week I started pre school. My school is called Sunshine Montessori. I have 4 teachers, and I know all of their names! School is fun but I had a little bit of an adjustment period. On Monday I said good bye to Mommy no problem but then didn’t realize that she would be leaving for that long! Everyday got easier as we got into our routine and I now know that after snack and some more activities, we go outside to play and I can see Mommy drive up in the red car to pick me up to go home for lunch. Mommy and Daddy say they are very proud of me and that I was very brave this week. I heard Mommy tell Gramma on the phone that I did a good job and got used to school really quickly. Thurs and Fri were fun! Only I know how this coming Monday will be after having the break over the weekend!

Mighty Machines
I really like big machines. Diggers, garbage trucks, tractors…it is all cool. There was a mighty machines showcase near our house a little while a go so we went to check it out. I was not in the best mood that day, so the first very loud garbage truck horn that was blown near me made me pretty upset. I managed to feel better enough to sit in a couple of mighty machines.
An electricity truck.
A digger.
My absolute favourite, the garbage truck.
Today, Mommy and I went on a really big train! It was so cool. We went from Waterloo to St. Jacob’s and back. We saw lots of cars, trees and a river, we went under a bridge and way up high on a bridge! We even had a snack on the train. The train whistle was really loud!
We had to have our tickets stamped.
Of course, I didn’t stay in my seat for the whole hour and a half!
My favourite part about the train was the kaboose.

Another summer older
It has been a busy and fun summer.
I went to my friend Hunter’s 1st birthday party. It was a lot of fun AND we got dinosaurs in our goodie bags!
For June & July we participated in a special Kindermusik class called Family Time. My friends Sofie, Hunter and Olivia were in the class; it was a lot of fun!
We went to a cottage with Gramma & Grampa, Leila, Topher, Simon & Isla. There was so much to do there! My favourite was playing in the water or being in one of the boats in the water.
I also had my first campfire and roasted marshmallow at the cottage. Mmmmm….
We picked raspberries in our backyard!
After riding an elephant at African Lion Safari, I figured I could ride anything so at the Zoo, I rode a camel!
I went to the beach at Papa Randy’s house and enjoyed burying my feet in the sand. Daddy and I jumped the waves too.
We went on a treasure hunt that Mommy & Daddy called Geocaching. We used Sheila, our GPS, to find a treasure hidden in the forest! We got lots of bug bites but it was really neat finding the treasure.
And finally, a picture of me in front of my new school. Yes, I am starting school this September! I am going to a school called Sunshine Montessori. I will be there every morning having so much fun learning and playing with other boys and girls. We went for a tour to see my classroom. I really am excited to go. It sure is going to be a lot different for me, and Mommy too!

Big, scary (or not so scary) dinosaurs!
I love dinosaurs. I have dinosaur books, dinosaur figures and we even went to the movie theatre for the first time to see a Dinosaur movie called Ice Age! I loved it. The other day, on our way to Hamilton to visit Gammie, we stopped at a place that had BIG HUGE dinosaurs! i went pretty close to the Stegosaurus and T-Rex but the Brontosaurus was so big I had to tilt my head up as high as I could to see his face. He was a little scary so I kept my distance.
I saw some other creatures this week as well. We went to African Lion Safari. We had monkey’s jump on our car!
I fed some goats. I really enjoyed that and kept asking Dad to get another quarter so we could get more food for them!
Best of all, I rode on an elephant! Mom couldn’t believe that I wanted to. (I don’t know why. The elephant Jenny that we rode on is only 9 ft tall and 9000 lbs!) It was really cool to be up so high and to feel the elephants head.
